EO Media Group’s digital team earned three awards in the 2012 Local Community Web Site Contest run by Local Media Association. The contest covered the top web initiatives from community and suburban newspapers across North America.


The contest was judged by the Missouri School of Journalism and the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute. Judging was based on the newspapers’ paid content, investigative reporting, breaking news, use of social media and online sales initiatives. The awards were:

First Place – Best Site to Buy or Sell Merchandise (all circulation categories): OnlyAg.com. Judges said: “A very nice site that serves a niche

well. Well designed and easy to use.”

First Place — Best Niche Site Produced by a Local Newspaper (Under 100,000 circulation): DiscoverOurCoast.com. Judges said: “Elegant, inviting, comprehensive – this website rocks – what a great niche site for residents and visitors – it’s quite beautiful.”

Second Place — Best Video Initiative (Under 100,000 circulation, non-daily): Eagle Cap multimedia coverage for Wallowa County Chieftain.
